Studied at Brighton College of Art and later at the Institute of Education, University of London. He then taught art in an East London school, establishing a strong printing department whilst developing his own work alongside.He was elected to Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers membership in 1958. Became head of Art Teacher Training at Hornsey College of Art and later the Dean of Art and Design at Middlesex University. He created a bold series of prints for London Graphic Arts in the 60s and 70s using woodblock relief printing and paper stencils for overlaying colour. Awarded an OBE in 1988, his work is held in public collections around the world and widely collected.
