Boiling Crabs
Richard Platt
Born in London 1928, the son of JG Platt a printmaker and Principal of Hornsey School of Art. After national service he followed in his fathers footsteps and studied at the Royal College of Art alongside John Bratby, Peter Blake, Derek Greaves and Joe Tilson. Exhibited at the Leicester Galleries and British Art 1900-1955 show. His illustration forte was in the interpretation of everyday life, at work and play. In common with many artists he moved to a more abstract style in the 60s. He left London in 1962 for Falmouth, where he lived until his death, and helped to raise the profile of Falmouth College of Art. There he developed his interest in 18th C. English music, becoming a successful musicologist.
