Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005)
A Scottish sculptor, artist and printmaker, Paolozzi was a major figure in international art. He was a founder of the Independent Group in 1952, a precursor to the mid-50s British and late-50s American Pop Art movements which he strongly influenced. His graphic work in the 60s and 70s was innovative, exploring and extending the possibilities in silksceen printing, and incorporated pop culture and technological imagery in tandem. His work is held in many major institutions in the UK and abroad.
